FLUTIST

Raf started playing the flute at the age of sixteen. After four years, he graduated from his music studies magna cum laude (Schaarbeek 1980, teacher Roland Vandenberghe).
In 1985 he graduated from the Brussels Conservatory (teacher Paul Vanwolleghem).
Furthermore, he also graduated from his studies in chamber music and pedagogy at the conservatories of Antwerp and Ghent. Raf studied privately for a number of years with Erik Dequeker and  Susan Milan, taking part in  masterclasses with Geoffrey Gilbert, Susan Milan and others.

His orchestral experience includes working with the Royal  Philharmonic Orchestra of Flanders, the Royal Opera orchestra Brussels and the New Belgian Chamber Orchestra.
He teaches flute, ensemble and chamber music at the music academy Zoltan Kodaly in Wijnegem. An active musician, he offers a variety of styles and instrumental combinations, performing at concerts, funerals and events. As a certified teacher of Body Mapping and the Franklin Method he gives lectures, personal coaching and  a variety of workshops on breathing and movement.
